A communication server is a combination of hardware and software that allows remote access to tools or information that generally reside in a network of devices.
In other words, a communication server is a computer that allows others to connect to it.(It can be through a telephone line by modem, for example).
They are based on industry standards such as AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, Carrier Grade Linux and Service Availability Forum.
Communication servers are the base platform on which providers build network infrastructure for the development of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), IPTV and wireless bandwidth.
Communication servers are also called servers of remote access or, in English, Remote Access Server/Service, abbreviated RAS.
