Peering definition

The peering is the voluntary interconnection of Internet networks separated from the administrative point of view, with the purpose of exchanging data between clients of each network.

The peering requires a physical interconnection of the networks, an exchange of routing information to through the BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing protocol and is often accompanied by peering agreements of various formalities.
